Summer Art (and More!) Program

In recent years we have run a popular Art Program at our Lower School for five to ten year olds. By popular demand, this summer we will be expanding this program to run from 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Art will continue to be the focus in the mornings, with the afternoons dedicated to more varied and active pursuits. The first session of the camp will run from June 21 to June 25. The second session will run from June 28 to July 2. Two later sessions will run from July 19 to 23 and July 26 to 30. The cost is $325 per week, paid in advance.

Cecilia Marshall is looking forward to organizing and running the morning art session again this year. Cecilia has 29 years of experience teaching art and is currently our fifth and sixth grade art teacher. Students will be working with clay, paint, collage, and mixed media–with animal and nature themes. There will also be play and snack time.

Please spread the word; the program is open to any interested students, including those outside of the IMS community.

The FC Sarum Soccer Camp has been a fixture at IMS for years. The first week (July 5 to 8) is for 5-8 year olds, running from 9:00 a.m. through noon daily. The subsequent two weeks, July 12 to 16 and July 19 to 23, are for 7-15 year olds. These weeks consist of a full day program with a half-day option available to 7, 8, and 9 year olds only. IMS will once again be offering a Fast Start Program for day students entering grades 5 through 9 over the two weeks from August 23 to September 3. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. each weekday, taking place on our Upper Campus.

We hope to expand the curriculum of the program this year. As it did last year, our curriculum will include a review of past concepts and an introduction to new ones as preparation for the coming school year, tailored as much as possible to the individual needs of the attendees. Subjects will include math, reading comprehension, writing, and study skills. In addition, depending upon enrollment, we will offer instruction in art, guitar, SSAT prep, and foreign language (first week only). The staff for the program will consist of IMS tutors and teachers. The fee is $225 per week, paid in advance.
