Ways to Give

At Indian Mountain, fundraising is essential to fulfilling our mission of promoting moral growth and personal academic excellence. An IMS education is funded not only by tuition, but also by contributions from family, friends, and alumni.  Gifts to IMS can be unrestricted or restricted.

  • Matching Gifts

Matching gifts from corporations and foundations are an important source of revenue. Each year the Annual Fund receives thousands of dollars in matching funds from dozens of companies. Such gifts are an excellent opportunity for you to increase (double or even triple) the amount of your contribution.

Guidelines for matching gifts vary by company; however, generally you should enclose a matching gift form when the gift is sent to IMS. The gifts administrator in the Alumni/Development Office will complete a portion of the form verifying the gift and mail the confirmation to the corporation. Specific inquiries regarding matching gift policies, procedures, and payment schedules should be made to the personnel office of your employer.

  • Planned Giving for Our Future

Indian Mountain School has several charitable giving opportunities for alumni, parents, and friends interested in contributing to the continued success of the school. Our planned-giving initiatives allow donors to provide a level of support for Indian Mountain that might not be possible through traditional cash donations or gifts in kind. Additionally, donors of planned gifts can receive significant financial benefits by structuring their estates to convert low-yielding assets into higher income streams, achieve important income tax reductions, and reduce or eliminate capital gains or estate taxes.

Along with annual giving, which supports Indian Mountain’s operating budget, and traditional capital giving for special projects, planned giving completes a circle of funding that will help secure the future of the school. These gifts can be directed toward our capital needs, which include new facilities, or endowment growth that benefits IMS faculty, students who need financial aid, and the maintenance of our plant and equipment.

    THE PEARSON SOCIETY
The Pearson Society honors those who have chosen to support the vision and mission of Indian Mountain School by including the school in their estate plans. The Pearson Society is named for Roger E. Pearson, a member of the Class of 1934 who died in 1994 and left the school an unexpected $400,000 bequest. It was the largest donation that Indian Mountain had received to that date. His generosity provided the school with initial momentum for its capital campaign of the late 1990’s, culminating in the construction of our new library and science wing, computer lab, and the Performing Arts addition. The Society is open to donors who inform the school of an estate-planning vehicle that results in a benefit to Indian Mountain School.
