Co-ed junior boarding and day school for students in pre-kindergarten through grade nine
In addition to several drama productions each year, students at IMS can choose from electives such as improvisational comedy and set design.
All fifth and sixth graders participate in a theater production, and we encourage students in older grades to participate on or behind the stage as well. Recent productions include Annie Get Your Gun, Oliver, The Wizard of Oz, 12 Angry Men, Snow White, and Little Women.
Our students’ enthusiasm for acting and all aspects of theater production is tremendous. We work hard to involve anyone who is interested in any aspect of drama. At times, we write in extra cameo roles or create extra jobs on the backstage crew so we can include as many interested students as possible.

“IMS gave me the tools I needed to grow in acting, even at a young age. Now I am studying acting full time, thanks to the incredible beginning I received.”

Dave Edson grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts, and graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in theater. He then lived in Chicago for five years where he steeped himself in blues music, made theater, and taught at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Next, he moved on to New York City, where he trained extensively with Anne Bogart's SITI Company and Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. For many years, he acted, played his guitar, directed, wrote, composed, devised, and improvised his way around the NYC theater scene, regionally, and internationally. Highlights included hiking up unnamed mountains in Colorado on his day off from summer theater, being a part of an ensemble that won a New York Innovative Theatre Award, and touring the Balkans with a bilingual play based on an Albanian legend. For 14 years, he also taught at LREI, a progressive pre-k through twelfth-grade school in the West Village. He worked throughout LREI's after school program, summer camp, lower school, middle school, and for the last five of those years, he was a sixth-grade humanities teacher. After so much big city living, Dave is thrilled to return to Massachusetts--this time with his wife, Rachel, and daughter, Fiona, to absorb the nature, culture, and good people of the Berkshires.
Danny Tieger grew up in Hartford, CT and spent many of his summers in the Berkshires. Danny graduated from Skidmore College in 2008 and spent the first part of his career writing and performing comedy in Los Angeles. He has toured nationally with theater productions such as Matilda the Musical. Danny is a prolific songwriter, writing music for NASA, DreamworksTV, and over a hundred films and television shows with his band, Peter Panic. A published author, Danny’s two books teach young people to express their creativity through filmmaking and songwriting respectively. Danny enjoys running, fast-moving winter sports, and exploring with his son, William.
