On Friday, May 7, both the boys and girls lacrosse teams and the varsity tennis team donned their maroon and white uniforms and stepped out to compete against Millbrook. Meanwhile, the baseball and softball teams had a week off  to focus on their strengths and weaknesses heading into a rematch against Rumsey.

Congratulations to the Varsity Tennis team for another outstanding win against Millbrook. A special kudos to Lily Chandler, who according to Coach Rincon, “ as a 6th grader playing #4 on the ladder has not lost a single game yet” which is a product of her consistent hard work and consistency at practice. In addition, Jamie Levine played “lights-out against a big-serving high school junior” and won his match handedly by his consistent serves and ability to react quickly to his opponents attacks.

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team has continued their winning streak and came out on top with an 8-6 win against Millbrook’s JV lacrosse team. Despite a small roster the boys dug deep and fought hard to take a 5-1 lead at halftime and were able to close out the game in the last quarter. Alongside Team Captains, Cole Molica, Russell Soja, and Will Mulder, key contributions were made by Dante Cantalupo and Jayden Lee who both played in their first lacrosse game on Friday. In addition, brothers Jack and Joe Alnwick played great on the defensive end, with Tieler Traggio, Graham Heitman, and Aaron Wilkinson showing composure and poise on offense. The week later the boys were able to defeat Rumsey on their home field in a gritty rematch to continue their winning streak.

Representing IMS on their home turf, the girls varsity lacrosse team defeated Millbrook 7-6 in a physical and fast paced game. Among many highlights, Sylvie Fishman Janowitz and Alexa Billo scored their first goals of the season and Ava Wallack worked hard to score a few goals in a close matched game. With the clock winding down the girls were able to win the draw and  move the ball quickly around on the offensive end to score the game winning goal. Both Coach Statile and Coach Toolan are very proud of how the girls played as a team and how far they have come over the past few weeks.
