Faculty Opportunities

IMS seeks a Director of Residential Life. Primarily reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Student Life and working collaboratively with the Director of Student Activities, the Director of Residential Life will be an important leader in the community. The Director will work individually and collectively with students, administrators, faculty, and staff to nurture and strengthen a positive and inclusive boarding culture that reflects the values and mission of IMS.

Indian Mountain School is currently accepting applications for full-time Upper Campus (Grade 5-9) teachers for the 2022-2023 academic year. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is required, and a minimum of two years teaching or related experience is preferred. Full-time Upper Campus positions also include responsibilities in the athletics and residential life divisions. On-campus housing may be available for interested candidates.

Indian Mountain School is seeking part-time academic tutors at our Grades 5-9 Campus. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development, with experience specifically from a variety of learning backgrounds. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is required, and a minimum of two years teaching, tutoring, or related experience is preferred. Send resume and cover letter to Alex Hodosy.

IMS seeks a part-time teacher for its afterschool program. The afterschool program is committed to providing a safe, warm, and imagination-based environment  for the elementary-aged students of Indian Mountain School. 

Applicants should have an interest in supporting end-of-day activities for our student population. Afterschool teachers work directly with professional educators in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will take direction from a lead teacher and exhibit flexibility while managing structures and expectations to meet the needs of the program. A background  in the arts and early childhood education are preferred. This position will be approximately 8-10 hours per week: 3 – 5 pm Monday thru Thursday.

Staff Opportunities

Indian Mountain School seeks a Director of Auxiliary Programs. Under direction of the CFO and Head of the Lower School the responsibilities of this position include maintaining the coordination, implementation, and administration of all auxiliary programs including but not limited to Summer Programs on both campuses and After School Care on the Lower Campus. The specific duties of the Director of Auxiliary Programs include program development and management, carrying forth prudent fiscal management, participation in staff development, and offsite collaborations. This person will provide a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised after school program; be the liaison with parents, collaborators, school management, volunteers, and visitors to display the site and the program positively. This position is responsible for planning and development of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed materials and supplies. In addition the Director of Auxiliary Programs is responsible for the collection of program data and assisting with administrative support. In addition, this position is responsible for the marketing of summer programs, creating and managing enrollment paperwork, coordinating with the business office billing, and ancillary services and general overall management of the summer program as well organizing the day-to-day logistics of the summer programs/classes, coordinating transportation to and from the Grove, scheduling times and dates of the programs, hiring program instructors and reviewing the course content. The position is part-time with primary focus from March to September for the summer programs and from September through May for the After School Care program. This position also includes responsibility as the Facility Rental Coordinator; coordinating the rental process for facilities on both campuses including finalizing the facility rental agreements, payments and insurance.

IMS seeks Leadership Gifts Officer (LGO). Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, the LGO will create and implement strategies that strengthen relationships with IMS alumni and parents, and will cultivate, solicit, and close gifts of $2,500 or more. When strategically determined, the LGO will also support capital and planned gifts among assigned prospects. Alumni and individuals who possess a deep understanding of independent/boarding school are encouraged to apply.

Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds (“Director”) and Supervision of the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, this position is responsible for daily operations of the School’s physical plant, including maintenance of all buildings, grounds, athletic fields, vehicles and other equipment.

QualificationsWorking knowledge of a work order system and general knowledge of building systems. Must successfully pass a background check and possess a valid license and safe driving record.

Essential Functions for Maintenance Staff member:

1. Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of school facilities.

2. Ensure that all activities conform to school guidelines.

3. Communicate effectively with all members of the school and community.

4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

5. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.

 6. Support the value of an education.

Indian Mountain School seeks part-time RN nurses during day-time hours Monday-Saturday for the school year, as well as be available to be called to fill in on an “as-needed basis” due to absences on the nursing staff.

Ideal candidates should possess strong patient care assessment, critical thinking, communication and computer skills and function as a team member. A CT Licensure is required. School health experience optimal, but not essential.
