Faculty Opportunities

Indian Mountain School is searching for a part-time 3rd and 4th grade Spanish language teacher at our Lower School. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development. Candidates should be flexible, joyful, have a collaborative nature, and take an optimistic approach to problem solving. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is required, and a minimum of two years teaching or related experience is preferred.

IMS seeks candidates who will:

  • Develop and manage curricula for language instruction at the 3rd and 4th grade levels
  • Prioritize the integration of diverse voices into and throughout their courses 
  • Differentiate their instruction by accurately assessing students’ current skill levels and using individualized strategies to help them progress towards mastery
  • Assess to accurately gauge student progress as well as student performance 
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary and school-wide objectives
  • Foster student-driven and student-choice learning    
  • Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the ways in which inclusive and equitable practices inform their approach to instruction and course design.

Indian Mountain School is seeking part-time academic tutors at our Grades 5-9 Campus. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development, with experience specifically from a variety of learning backgrounds. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is required, and a minimum of two years teaching, tutoring, or related experience is preferred. Send resume and cover letter to Alex Hodosy.

IMS seeks a part-time teacher for its afterschool program. The afterschool program is committed to providing a safe, warm, and imagination-based environment  for the elementary-aged students of Indian Mountain School. 

Applicants should have an interest in supporting end-of-day activities for our student population. Afterschool teachers work directly with professional educators in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will take direction from a lead teacher and exhibit flexibility while managing structures and expectations to meet the needs of the program. A background  in the arts and early childhood education are preferred. This position will be approximately 8-10 hours per week: 3 – 5 pm Monday thru Thursday.

Staff Opportunities

Indian Mountain School seeks a full-time RN nurse during day-time hours, Monday-Saturday for the 2021-2022 school year.

Ideal candidates should possess strong patient care assessment, critical thinking, communication and computer skills, and function as a team member. A CT Licensure is required. School health experience is optimal, but not essential.

Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds (“Director”) and Supervision of the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, this position is responsible for daily operations of the School’s physical plant, including maintenance of all buildings, grounds, athletic fields, vehicles and other equipment.

QualificationsWorking knowledge of a work order system and general knowledge of building systems. Must successfully pass a background check and possess a valid license and safe driving record.

Essential Functions for Maintenance Staff member:

1. Maintain school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of school facilities.

2. Ensure that all activities conform to school guidelines.

3. Communicate effectively with all members of the school and community.

4. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

5. Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary.

 6. Support the value of an education.
