Heather Eckert joined the IMS community in the summer of 2016 with past independent school experience that includes serving as a faculty member at The Hotchkiss School, Blair Academy, and the American Overseas School of Rome (AOSR) in Italy. A graduate of Loomis Chaffee, Heather earned a B.A. in history from Williams College and an M.S.Ed. in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Following Williams, Heather taught 6th grade mathematics and science and 8th grade mathematics and English at AOSR and then resided in New York City and Boston for six years, holding positions in public relations and communications, corporate strategic planning and marketing, portfolio management, and accounting. Returning to the field of education in 2006, Heather served as the Director of Financial Aid and Associate Dean of Admission at Blair Academy for eight years where she was also a dorm head, the head girls’ track coach, and a class academic dean for four years. Most recently, Heather was the Director of Admission Operations at The Hotchkiss School. In addition to her admission work at Hotchkiss, Heather’s responsibilities included running a dormitory of 74 girls, coaching the hurdlers on the track team, and serving as a faculty advisor.
Beyond IMS, Heather serves as co-head of The Enrollment Management Association’s national committee known as the Admission Leadership Council (ALC). Heather and her husband Mike, the Director of the Hotchkiss Class of 1964 Teaching and Learning Center and an instructor in the Hotchkiss humanities department, live down the road on the Hotchkiss campus with their three sons, Cormac ‘28, Reece ‘28, and Mather, and their very friendly golden retriever, Jambo. A New England native, Heather is an outdoor enthusiast and her interests include skiing, running, cooking, and traveling with Mike and her boys.
