With the 2025 fall season come to a close, it’s time to take a closer look at the remarkable achievements of our athletic programs. Each sport brought its own unique challenges and triumphs, contributing to a season filled with memorable moments and personal growth.

Our Varsity Boys Soccer team kicked off the season with high expectations after last year’s team’s outstanding performance. With a combination of new and returning talent, the squad quickly developed into a cohesive unit on the field with the help of our team captains and coaches. Their early games displayed a powerful offensive strategy, leading to several decisive victories. The team’s exceptional dedication and performance all season long led them to victory at the New England Junior School Boys Soccer Tournament for the second year in a row. During the tournament, the boys played incredibly well, conceding no goals, ending with a strong 21-0 finish. Overall, the Boys Varsity Soccer team showcased their talent and sportsmanship, making this season an unforgettable one.

The Varsity Girls Soccer season was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by a palpable energy and a shared commitment to both personal and team development. The team and coaching staff’s hard work and dedication resulted in a nearly undefeated season. IMS hosted the New England Junior School Girls Soccer Tournament this year, where the team competed in four hard-fought matches. Their incredible performance landed them in second place at the tournament, with the team only losing once to Fay in the finals. The team did not let the loss weaken their drive, and they finished off the season strong with a set of decisive victories. Another highlight for the team this season was the annual Under-The-Lights Game at the Hotchkiss School, where the girls faced off against Rumsey Hall in a stunning 6-0 victory. After such an admirable season, we look forward to seeing all that this team accomplishes next season and beyond.

The JV Boys Soccer program also had an impressive season, with a huge roster of twenty-two players. They competed in eighteen games total, winning many of them, showcasing their endurance and strength as a well-rounded team. The boys proved their skill and determination this season, and we look forward to seeing many of them advance to varsity next school year.

Our JV Girls Soccer team radiated joy and positivity on and off the field this season. Although the team struggled to take home a win, they never let that deter them from building on their skills and establishing a strong team mindset. Each game became an opportunity for personal growth and skill development, evidenced by the noticeable progress made throughout the season. Their commitment and teamwork serve as a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and the importance of perseverance in athletics.

The 3rds Soccer team experienced an incredible season filled with excellent effort and unwavering teamwork. With many new and returning players, they focused on developing their skills and building camaraderie on and off the field. The coaches provided exceptional support, fostering a positive environment where every athlete felt valued and encouraged to grow. Practices were characterized by enthusiasm and passion, with players pushing each other to improve. The team showcased their drive and determination by winning several matches this season. We hope to see many of the players continue on to the JV and varsity levels in the upcoming years.

Our Equestrian team was stronger than ever this fall, with new and returning riders showcasing the beauty and precision of horsemanship. Participants displayed phenomenal commitment to both their horses and the sport. Throughout the season, riders worked closely with coaches to learn and improve their technique. It was clear by the end of the season how much the group had grown, not only individually but as a team, uplifting one another at every opportunity. Our athletes worked hard throughout the season to make the most of their sessions and built a strong foundation for future seasons of riding.

The Varsity Volleyball team has an outstanding season marked by team and personal growth. From the first practice, it was clear that the players were ready to push their limits, focusing on developing strong communication on the court, understanding positioning, and refining their strategic play. As the season progressed, each match became a test of their collective resilience and growth. They faced seasoned competitors who challenged their skills and fortitude, yet every setback became an opportunity for learning. In the end-of-season tournament, the team brought their sportsmanship and passion to every match, leaving everything on the court. Despite not achieving their ultimate goal of winning the tournament, the team has much to be proud of and finished their season strong.

The JV Volleyball season was marked by a fun-filled environment and commitment to strengthening their skillsets. The team consisted of students from every grade level, with varying levels of experience with the sport. Our older students stepped up to the plate, mentoring younger players, ensuring they were well-prepared for the season ahead. Our coaches designed training sessions to be inclusive and educational, allowing players to learn at a comfortable pace while building a solid foundation in volleyball. The team’s passion for learning and perseverance paid off with a nearly undefeated season. We are so proud of this team’s exponential growth and look forward to seeing many of them move up to the varsity level in future seasons.

The Cross-Country team had a dynamic fall season filled with personal bests and strong performances. All season long, our coaches encouraged and supported students to step outside their comfort zones. The runners exhibited remarkable commitment and development, pushing each other to achieve their personal goals. From the beginning, the team embraced the challenges of distance running, participating in rigorous training sessions on our Mountain. IMS hosted many cross-country meets with neighboring schools throughout the season, where we saw our runners excel, winning many of their races as a team. By the end of the season, most of the team had dropped their mile time and 3K race time by over a minute, and in some cases, several minutes. Beyond their physical skill, the most impressive thing about this team was their support for one another. No matter their placement in the race, runners could always count on their fellow Falcons to be fiercely cheering them on from the finish line.

The Mountain Biking team experienced tremendous growth and excitement this fall. With many new riders joining the ranks, the team embraced the thrill of challenging trails and competitive racing. Our coaches emphasized not only skill development but also safety and camaraderie, key components for an enjoyable and successful season. Throughout the season, the team tackled various local races. Each race presented new challenges, and our riders rose to the occasion, demonstrating resilience and determination. Early on on the season, IMS hosted a home race on the Mountain, which saw two riders achieve podium positions in Cat 3 and 4. By the end of the season, many riders had excelled and were able to move up in divisions. In the championship race of the season, IMS saw two riders place in the top three of Cat 1 and Cat 4. We are incredibly proud of all our riders’ growth and perseverance this season.

Our second year of the Intramural Sports program saw students engage enthusiastically in a variety of activities, including squash, tennis, four-square, and hiking. The program fostered a sense of community, allowing participants to connect with one another while exploring a variety of sports offerings in a non-competitive, inclusive environment. It was heartwarming to see kids of all skill levels come together this season, and we look forward to seeing what other sports these students choose to explore next.

Flag Football was a new sport offered this term, which saw students from all grade levels come together as they demonstrated their excitement and passion for the sport. The team competed in only two games this season, winning both. Their sportsmanship and teamwork were on full display as they represented IMS admirably. We are excited to watch this team grow in the years to come and hope to be able to offer more game opportunities next season.

As we reflect on the fall athletic season, it’s clear that each program not only contributed to the overall success of our athletic department but also fostered personal growth and development among our Falcons. The passion, perseverance, and sportsmanship displayed by all of our teams was exemplary.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the coaches, families, and fans whose unwavering support has propelled our athletes toward success. As we look forward to the winter season, there are plenty of opportunities for our teams to build on the momentum gained this fall. Here’s to continuing our journey of excellence, both on and off the field, and embracing the challenges that lie ahead!
