The Falcons varsity tennis team hosted Rumsey on Wednesday, April 28.  Despite unusually cold weather for a tennis match, the Falcons and Blue Dogs took to the courts in their first of two matches against each other this season.

In singles matches, #1 Falcon player, Alton, defeated his opponent 8-1.  Playing #2, Lee defeated his opponent 9-7 in a very intense and exciting match-up.  John came from behind and narrowly lost his #3 singles match in a tie-breaker by a score of 9-8.  Derek defeated his opponent at #4 singles in a very close tie-breaker with a score of 9-8.  Playing #5 for IMS was Alejandro who came away with an 8-5 victory over his opponent.  IMS went on to finish 5-1 in singles competition as Jack, playing #6 on the ladder, outmatched his opponent to win by a score of 8-4.  All athletes showed great hustle throughout their matches. 

In doubles competition, The Falcons’ #1 team of Lee and Maria both battled through sickness and overpowered their opponents to come away with an 8-4 victory.  Playing together as the #2 team was Alton and John who easily outdistanced themselves from their opponent to come away victorious with a score of 8-1. Derek and Jason played together at #3 doubles outplayed their opponents by a score of 8-2 to enable the Falcons to complete a sweep in the doubles competition.

With their 6-1 victory over Rumsey the Falcons improve to 3-0 and look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Berkshire on Friday.
