Falcons off to a fast start after great first week of games!

Softball opened up the season with a resounding 16-2 victory over Renbrook. On the mound, Maddy Lowdowski started off the game strong and then Addie Kiggen came in to finish off the opponent. With a team consisting of many returning players and some key additions, the girls are looking to have a great season.

Varsity Baseball opened the season with an 11-4 loss to Mt. Everett. Some early jitters in the field allowed Mt. Everett to get out to a sizable lead. As the boys calmed down, the defense and offense picked up but not enough to overcome the deficit. The team is trying to replace most of the pitching and hitting from last year and the boys will look to improve each time they take the field.

JV Boys Lacrosse had their first couple of games canceled due to poor weather but they finally had the chance to get their season underway against Eaglebrook. Despite an evenly contested game, the Falcons were able to come away with a majority of the face-offs and control the possession time. Eventually, IMS was able to pull away and cement a 7-4 victory.

Varsity Boys Lacrosse has played a couple of early contests. In their first game, the boys fell to Millbrook in a highly contested 3-2 game. The subsequent game against Kent proved a more successful venture for the boys. Despite starting slowly, IMS outscored the opponent 8-1 in the second half to come away with a 13-7 victory. A young team, the boys will look to build on these early games.
Varsity Girls Lacrosse looks to be en route to a dominant season. After a decisive victory over Dutchess Day School, the girls doubled down with a strong performance against Kent. This year’s team is lead by 9th grader Ellie Traggio, who is surrounded by a host of talented teammates. After a 2-0 start to the year, the girls will look to keep the momentum rolling next week.
Varsity Tennis is searching for a new standard as the team is looking at an entirely new top of the ladder. In their first match, the boys showed great resilience against a tough Renbrook squad and came away with the 6-2 victory. As the season progresses, the team will look to keep competing against many talented competitors.
JV Tennis got their season going with a good win against Kildonan. Because the team is so large, it is possible to field a strong ladder, regardless of the competition. The team will look to keep making strides and learning the fundamentals of the game as the season goes on.
