On Monday, the Varsity Tennis team headed up Interlaken Road to take on Hotchkiss. After delaying the start of the match due to threatening skies, the clouds gave away, and the sun began to show for what turned out to be a perfect day for tennis.

Alton took to the court as the Falcons’ #1 singles player and played against one of his strongest opponents of the season.  Despite playing well he ended up losing by a score of 8-3. John (#2 singles) defeated his opponent by a score of 8-5. Alejandro outplayed his opponent at #3 singles and came away with an 8-3 victory. At #4 singles, Jack, played one of his best matches of the season and came away victorious with an 8-4 win.  Orson, playing #5 singles, battled strong throughout all of his matches but narrowly lost to his opponent by a score of 8-6. Michael continued to improve his all-around play while taking on a very athletic opponent at #6 singles but came away with an 8-5 loss. In singles competition, the teams split evenly and went into doubles competition at 3-3.

In doubles competition, the Falcons stepped up to the challenge and swept through all three doubles matches to come away with the final point for a 4-3 victory on the day. The Falcons mixed up the doubles partners for the day and that paired Lee and Zach up at #1 doubles.  Lee and Zach cruised to an 8-0 (Love) victory.  Maria partnered with Luke at #2 doubles and came away with an 8-0 (Love) victory.  The #3 doubles team, consisting of Filippo and Jason, also came away with an 8-0 (Love) victory. All three doubles teams showed good chemistry and communication with each other throughout their matches.

In exhibition play, Derek won his singles match by a score of 8-1.

The Falcons record now stands at 4 wins and 1 loss. The team looks to continue their winning ways when they host a talented Millbrook team on Friday.
