It has been a fantastic week of athletics at IMS! We are 24 hours away from our centennial celebration and the first chance to play on our brand new Centennial Field.  Our school pride is at an all-time high as we head into Fall break. Here’s the week in review.

Varsity Girls Soccer traveled to play Sherman Middle School on Wednesday. IMS was in control for most of the game with goals and assists coming from Sofia, Genesis, Julia, Anna L., Emma, Alayna, Frances, and Jocyline. Our midfielders, defense, and goalies held strong throughout, racking up our third straight shutout. Varsity Girls Soccer is excited for their big game against Hotchkiss JV on the new turf field tomorrow! Come out to the centennial celebration and support the Varsity Girls Soccer team at 4:30pm.

JV Girls Soccer played a hard fought game against Washington Montessori School last Wednesday. IMS fell short, but battled to the end. Claire, Barrett, and Winter tried out new and unfamiliar position and excelled in their new spots on the field. Gibby and the offense made some great shots on goal. Ryan and the midfielders opened up the field with their strong passing. Ellie and the defense held down the fort in key moments. Wish JV Girls Soccer luck in their next game against Berkshire Country Day School after the break.

Boys Varsity Soccer played Housatonic Valley Regional High School this past Wednesday. IMS came out with the decisive victory, scoring 7 goals. Arturo and Diego had a goal each, Marcus with 2, and Abdul with the impressive hat trick. Wally also played outstanding in goal, making several tough saves in crucial moments. Boys Varsity Soccer will play IMS rival Rumsey Hall on Thursday, and then away at Pathfinder FC on Saturday at 1:00pm.

JV Boys Soccer played Mizzentop on Wednesday at home. Rob ensured that IMS kept their lead by scoring two goals, both of which were headers. Charlie W. scored a goal, and Charlie L. scored off of a majestic volley. Once the Falcon’s established a strong lead, they put it in neutral and played a possession game. Nekhel and Chris played some stellar defense. The people have named it “The Beautiful Game.” Be on the lookout for JV Boys Soccer on Friday, when they play Berkshire Waldorf at home at 4:00pm.

5th and 6th Grade Soccer had a game against IMS rival Rumsey Hall on Wednesday. Whitlow, Alice, and Ryan all scored a goal each. Miles scored an impressive hat trick. These goals, along with some productive runs from the midfield and a strong defensive front brought home a victory with a 6-2 score.

Cross Country had a race this past Wednesday at the Rumsey Hall invitational. The team ran well. Miki placed first among boys and Margaret 2nd overall for the girls. The cross country team has been training hard for their big home race tomorrow against Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

Mountain Biking had a race away at Trinity Pawling on Wednesday. The team raced well, despite it being a rather challenging course. Cyrus raced B class, and Greta, Jaxon, and Dax raced C class. Impressively, Greta placed 2nd for the girls class. Be on the lookout for the Mountain Bike team as they race Berkshire next Wednesday.

Varsity Volleyball played Taft School on Friday here at home. The Falcons won in three sets: 25-23, 25-12, 25-10. The first game was close, but when IMS came out on top, the momentum carried them through the rest of the match for the win. Their next game is against Berkshire at home tomorrow at 4:30pm.

JV Volleyball played Miss Halls on Wednesday. With the help from a few on the Varsity team, JV volleyball pulled off the victory against this high school team. This match was a close one! IMS won the first set, then Miss Halls, then IMS, then Miss Halls again. It was a back and forth battle with no more than an 8 point differential at any moment. Hailey and Sophia had some phenomenal serving. The team came out with the win 3-2.

Go Falcons!
