It is hard to believe that the spring athletic season is coming to an end with only a few more weeks left of practice. This season has felt the most “normal” during this untraditional year of athletics and it has been amazing to see our athletes compete against each other during intrasquad scrimmages and interscholastic competitions. The final day of spring sports is Thursday, June 3rd.

The Varsity Tennis team had a strong showing against Millbrook on Friday, May 21st. Coach Hodosy was very pleased with Stella Demmerts fight and perseverance against a tough and consistent opponent. She rallied from behind to win a close match by finding a great rhythm and finishing strong the last few games. In addition, Max Blumenthal stepped up and played well on the doubles ladder as a sixth grader against a high school athlete. Lastly, according to Coach Hodosy, Clarisse Moucha had a “stellar exhibition match against the Millbrook #3 player, keeping things very close until the end of the match” in her most competitive match of the season.

The Softball team, composed of a tight knit group of 7th graders finished the season undefeated and have been working on their skills and bonding as a team for the past week. Coach Vaughn and Coach Hanniford look forward to working with this group next season after a great year to build team chemistry and for athletes to further their understanding of the game and gain valuable game experience. In addition, the Baseball team had a very successful season this spring. The team wrapped up with a contest against Rumsey in which Jayden Hernandez and Liam Colley pitched well for the Falcons.

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team is on a roll, pulling off another win against Millbrook on Friday. Despite a slow start to the game for both the Mustangs and the Falcons, with a score at half time of 1-0, the boys were able to settle down and focus on executing the task at hand. The Falcons were able to take off in the last two quarters to increase the gap and make the final score 10-3. Coach Abendroth and Coach D. Pecchia are proud of ninth graders Joe Alnwick, Noble Whitfield, and Cole Mollica for their contributions to the team this year and for stepping up as leaders.

The Girls lacrosse team played a competitive last game of the season against Millbrook. Sophia Sorriento started the game off strong with possession off the first draw and contributing one goal alongside Alexa Billo and Lily Dominique. In addition, Mansa Awuah and Olivia Tonelli both played their best games of the season on the defensive end alongside Paisley Pecchia who demonstrated grit and fight for the falcons. Coach Toolan and Coach Statile are very thankful for ninth graders  Lily Dominique, Leelee Sammis, Olive Simpson, and Cheyenne Graham for their leadership and dedication to the program this season and look forward to competing again with this talented group of returning players.

The Ultimate Frisbee team had their first official intrasquad scrimmage in which Coach Hatch and Coach Nania report that the team played the best that they have all season. Many thanks to all of the parents and fans that were able to attend this event. There will be another scrimmage this Friday. Please let Coach Ben Hatch know if you would like to attend.
