The junior varsity boys’ baseball team had a tremendous spring.  Following a tumultuous opening two games, in which the team did not play well, the boys began to develop the team chemistry, focus, and fundamental skills to become a competitive force.  Indian Mountain finished the season with four wins and three losses, behind improved pitching and defense.

The most memorable game of the spring was the Falcon’s second game against Rumsey Hall, which came two weeks after IMS pitchers walked eighteen batters, the Falcons committed five errors, and the team lost 12-9.  The boys worked diligently for the following two weeks to improve all aspects of their game.  It was during this time they bought into the idea that they could be a winning team, and they played with passion and a desire for victory to defeat Rumsey 8-1 when they arrived at Rumsey for their second meeting of the season.  Coaches Gulotta and Stubbs were tremendously proud of the team’s accomplishment, and Coach Gulotta described the game and the practices that led up to the victory as one of the best baseball experiences of his coaching career.

The boys’ camaraderie and dedication to improving were outstanding by the end of the season. In fact, both players and coaches wished they could have kept the team together for the summer.  Congratulations to all the IMS JV baseball players on a great season.
