Eight contestants. Two teams. One trophy. 

Maroon and Gray were deadlocked throughout the first two rounds of the 2020 IMS Academic Bowl. Mr. Tom McGlone, global language department chair and trivia host extraordinaire, kept each team on the edges of their seats as he challenged contestants with math problems and questions related to sports, geography, pop culture, and IMS. 

Gray came out victorious with 160 points to Maroon’s 140. This was the 14th straight year of the Academic Bowl, which kicks off Winter Carnival each year. Similar to Mountain Day in the fall, we cancel classes to enjoy our friendly (but competitive) school color rivalry. The day begins in Assembly Hall and ends on the slopes of Butternut Ski Area where we ski, snowboard, and snow tube. 

This celebrated tradition is more than a day off from classes. It is about pausing to appreciate our community and our connection to our beautiful surroundings.
