We now have more space to gather and to celebrate this exceptional community, to build relationships and to have fun. We will continue to respect and enjoy the mountain. We will learn together, challenging our ideas and celebrating our diversity. We will create a community where everyone belongs and we will continue to prioritize the joys of childhood. Together we will protect and elevate our school’s future.

On October 14, 2022, the entire IMS community, families, alumni and friends gathered to celebrate 100 years on the Mountain, beginning with the ribbon cutting for our new Field House and Centennial Field.

Head of School, Jody Reilly Soja P’22 ’24, was joined by the president of the Board of Trustees, Chriffo Sanger ’86, P’18 ’20, as well as alumni Jessica Lomo ‘20, Sohaila Ismail ‘20, Emmet Morehead ‘17, Andrew Kryzak ’95, and Catherine Gouge ’01, each of whom reflected on their time at IMS and what the school has meant to them: a place of personal growth, shared community, diversity, and belonging.

Then, our Lower School students thrilled the crowd with an original song, “Proud to Be A Falcon” written by trustee Savannah Stevenson, P’26, ’31.

The ribbon was cut, and the birthday celebration kicked into high gear, with athletic competitions (including a game on the new Centennial Field), an alumni exhibit, family fun, food, and live music from the Harlem Line Band that carried everyone well past sunset. The festivities ended with a spectacular fireworks display.

All in all, it was an unforgettable day, celebrating 100 years on the Mountain.

Happy Birthday, IMS!
