Courageous play by the sixth graders on both defense and offense helped IMS come back from a 4-1 deficit before losing down the stretch to Renbrook on Wednesday.  The score was 4-3 with a minute to play before Renbrook scored an unfortunate open net goal after Indian Mountain pulled their goalie and flooded the ice in an attempt to tie the game.

Aidan got IMS on the board first with a shot from the side boards that trickled into the net.  Michael brought the team to within two with a strong move to the middle, putting a wrist shot past Renbrook’s goalie.  Finally, Aidan made things even more interesting toward the end of the third when he put a rebound into the top shelf on his backhand.

IMS defensive play got stronger as the game wore on in the second period.  All three IMS goalies played during the game, each taking one period apiece, and they did an excellent job.  Jonah did an especially outstanding job tending net during the thrid period as he successfully shut out the Renbrook attack despite a number of shots on net.

It was a fun and encouraging game for the IMS program.  The team next plays against Trinity Pawling at home on Friday.
