Aggressive net play and some excellent saves maintained Indian Mountain’s momentum as they won their first game of the season by defeating Chase Collegiate School 3 games to 2 on Wednesday.  The Falcon bench was very active during the game, which helped the starters stay fresh and kept every athlete engaged.  Kimmie was the most active Indian Mountain performer.  She showed incredible focus and communication while making several plays at the net and completing four diggs in a row.

The team also enjoyed strong performances from several other key contributors.  Fuko and Yujin helped earn several consecutive points by making some key saves, Avian, Kay, and Alice worked as setters, and Finya and Avian did a fine job serving throughout the match.  Avian demonstrated a great overhand serve, which is a new skill she worked to improve since the previous game.

Coaches Bonk and McChesney were very impressed by the girls’ overall effort.  They were also impressed by the leadership of Jenna and the excellent sportsmanship displayed by Lulu in support of her teammates.  The girls will attempt to establish their first winning streak of the season when they play away at Rumey on Friday.
