This year’s spring musical, “Wax Museum,” marked the first theatrical production in the new Qianxun Performing Arts Center. The original IMS student production electrified audiences during its two-night run. It has set a new precedent for the caliber of our young artists with their creativity and charisma on full display.

In reflection of the production, Director Danny Tieger had this to say:

“Our original jukebox musical was the result of a wildly creative, chaotic, and joy-filled process. This show began with student writers imagining character pairings and original song ideas—they wrote scenes, cast each other as historical figures, sketched out interactions, and dreamed up a show that made them laugh. Ms. Tieger, Ms. Dominick, and I are thrilled to see the IMS Theater Company grow and take charge of this dynamic program.

It is clear that students have risen to the call of our guest speaker at the opening celebration of the Qianxun Performing Arts Center, Laura Linney, who said, “I encourage you to use this gift you have been given and jump in. Build sets. Make costumes. Act. Dance. Sing. Give speeches. Make music. Bring people together. Communicate what is important to you.”

Even though it’s the end of a show—and a year of theater—it feels like it’s just the beginning.”
