As the winter athletics season comes to an end, here is a look back at some of the highlights. With a variety of new offerings for winter sports, IMS students took to the ponds, the mountain, the ping-pong tables, and the court.

On campus at IMS, Coach Halloran, Hanniford, and Pierre organized the “February Frenzy”, an inter-squad tournament for our basketball program. This season athletes were able to develop their fundamental skills as well as improve their game IQ by analyzing film in the classroom.

The ping-pong/yoga team ended a successful season with a round robin tournament in which 8th grader, George Moniot, was named the grand champion. Throughout the season students gained a deeper understanding of various yoga styles and spent hours practicing with yoga instructor, Mrs. Halloran.

The pond hockey and outdoor adventure team spent time both on the ponds and on the mountain. By the end of the season a number of athletes learned to skate for the first time were playing in small sided scrimmages and skating around. Students enjoyed time sledding on the mountain as well as nordic skiing and snowshoeing on the trails.

The ice hockey team ended their season with a trip to Silo Ridge Field club to give our ponds a break and challenge each other to a competitive shoutout. Throughout the seasons athletes improved both their puck control, decision making, as well as their fitness.

At the mountain, the ski racing team ended their season undefeated after completing 3 races at Mohawk Mountain. With rotating captains of the week and strong leadership from Coach Sleboda the team dominated on the slopes in both the slalom and grand slalom. In addition, our recreational ski and snowboarders enjoyed countless runs at Catamount Ski area and took advantage of the abundance of snow we received this winter.
