Dear Friends of IMS,
We are incredibly grateful and proud to present the 2022-2023 Report of Giving. Reflecting on a year in which we unveiled dramatic upgrades to our campus and celebrated our love for IMS at Centennial events around the world, we feel profound appreciation for the generous support we received from every constituency. Thanks to the 500-plus donors who contributed to our Centennial Annual Fund, financial aid, endowment, capital projects––including the Morehead Athletic Center and future Performing Arts Center––and other strategic priorities, we surpassed all previous IMS fundraising records for a third consecutive year. This year’s Annual Fund surpassed our $1.1 million goal, and our total Annual Giving for the 2022-2023 academic year approached $5.5 million. Alumni Giving accounted for 35% of all donations––a 13% increase over the previous year. Your philanthropy allows us to maximize our program’s positive impact on our students. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
This past year, those of you who contributed to our capital projects allowed us to expand and improve essential community spaces, enhancing our athletic and residential programs while accommodating the robust growth we’ve realized in enrollment. Support of the Centennial Annual Fund equipped us with the means to attract and retain inspiring educators by making salaries more competitive, subsidizing masters programs for faculty, and providing additional faculty housing. It sent our teachers to professional development conferences on subjects ranging from project-based learning to generative AI. It sustained our partnerships with local cultural institutions, like Sharon Playhouse and Bard College’s The Orchestra Now (TŌN), maintaining IMS’s deep commitment to the arts. It enabled the expansion of our course catalog to include offerings like AP Computer Science and helped extend the Outdoor Adventure Education Program to all students. Your support also allowed us to provide life-changing financial aid to families both near and far.
Our Centennial Year has been an exciting and affirming one, and—thanks to you—we move into our next century with momentum to climb higher. As laid out in our new strategic plan, we have further to climb. You are at the heart of the work we do on behalf of our students, and we are energized by the vital role that you play in supporting our mission.
In the year ahead, our strategic focus will include bringing our “Phase 2” capital project(s) to fruition. Transforming the old gym into a performing arts center will provide a new community space suited to the development and celebration of our students’ musical and theatrical talents. This conversion will allow for a purposeful reconfiguration of our main building to support the wellbeing of our growing student body with a new dining hall, more classroom space, and a wellness center. Our shared faith and investment in the school’s mission has gotten us to this point: standing tall at the century mark, with our best days ahead of us.

IMS was the catalyst for everything that came after. The friendships—so many that remain strong and vital to this day. My relationships with faculty and the positive impact they had on me are indelible. There’s also the diversity. I’ve been involved with a lot of prep schools as a student, educator, and administrator. Most places, the Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging work isn’t as organic as it is at IMS, and that’s due, in large part, to the relative diversity of the student body.

Capital Projects
We're not investing in buildings just to enhance our facilities. We're investing in the experience of our students, the growth of our program, and the sustainability of our school.
Capital Campaign Donors
This year, we celebrated the completion of the Morehead Athletic Center and Centennial Field, the most ambitious capital projects in our school’s history. As we look to the future, our next capital project will allow us to reimagine our current spaces, by converting our former gym into a new center for community gatherings and performances.
