2019-2020

Annual Report of Giving

Thank You

Dear Friends of IMS,

We are incredibly grateful and proud to present the 2019-2020 Report of Gifts. Indeed, this year has challenged us as educators, learners, and community members in unimaginable ways. But more significant than the challenges we have faced are the relationships we have strengthened, the support we have given, and the indelible mark we have left on this institution. We strive to teach our students resiliency, determination, and adaptability for a changing world. This year, we have been tested to put these skills into practice. Your generosity has allowed us to adapt with the speed and agility needed during these unprecedented times, and model for our students the very principles we inspire. Through it all, we have been able to keep our community connected, supported, and engaged.

Each year, but especially during this time, your participation bolsters the support of our school’s vision and mission and infuses energy and spirit into our community. We believe deeply in the importance of in-person learning and, like many institutions, have faced significant increased costs to ensure the health and safety of our school during this global pandemic. These costs include testing units, extensive plexiglass installation, professional development for remote learning, and tents for outdoor classrooms. When we opened our campuses in September, we knew the year would be marked by unpredictability. Thanks to our layers of safety measures and planning, we have been overjoyed to have spent so much time in person without being significantly impacted by the virus on our campus.

We are looking ahead toward the future with hope and optimism. You may be aware that our centennial celebration is on the horizon. The year 2022 will mark the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Indian Mountain School, and we could not be more excited to honor our long history. Since our founding days, we have strived to create a joyful, engaged community of learners focused on sustainability and access. We believe that students learn best when learning in a diverse environment, surrounded by caring adults and peers who challenge their thinking and inspire new ways of seeing the world.

Your support sustains the learning experiences and accomplishments of our students by allowing us to recruit and retain dedicated faculty and provide them with professional development opportunities from which students directly benefit. It helps us maintain, improve, and build upon our campus and facilities. Your commitment allows us to offer a full range of extracurricular activities, upgrade our technology, and provide the transformative experience of IMS to students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds through financial aid. It also serves as a vote of confidence in our school and inspires our continued work on behalf of your children.

Throughout this website, you will find the names of our generous donors from the 2019-2020 school year. We extend our deepest thanks to the following individuals that have given generously in support of this school. We truly cannot do this without you.

With gratitude and appreciation,

Investing in Our Future

“There are solutions to the world’s most complex problems,” says Ken Fields ’88, who helped fund the 400-kilowatt solar array installation that powers our net-zero Outdoor Working Lab (O.W.L.). “We just need the courage to solve them. And, if you’re fortunate enough, you do it through the support of organizations and causes that you care about.”

The 1922 Society

In recognition of our founding year, 1922, and our upcoming Centennial celebration, the Board of Trustees recognizes the commitment of our most generous donors with the establishment of a new leadership giving society.

The 1922 Leadership Giving Society recognizes parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who make a total contribution of $1,000 or more annually. Like our founding leadership, they have made a commitment to the sustainability and success of Indian Mountain School. This meaningful support allows us to provide students with an exemplary educational experience and has a tremendous impact on our school community and future generations.
