Maestra or Profe López Polo has been teaching Spanish as a second language since 1990, the year she graduated from the University of Salamanca, Spain, with a degree in Spanish Philology. Before becoming a Spanish teacher at Indian Mountain School in Lakeville in August 2022, she taught all divisions at The Chapin School (K-12) in New York City (2001-2022), where in 2008 she was tasked with developing the Spanish program for the whole Lower School. Prior to teaching in the United States, she worked at the Cervantes Institute in Egypt and Romania, and earlier still, she taught in Salamanca, Spain. She finds herself in complete alignment with the values of embracing complex topics from a place of honesty, compassion, and respect. Her job and passion are to foster curiosity and appreciation for other perspectives and cultures. The world is always a better place with open doors and windows!
