Lisa Sun has been an educator for nearly thirty years, dedicating much of her career to working with students from early childhood through middle school—an age group with which she has a special affection. Before joining IMS, she served as Head of School at The Philadelphia School. She began her career teaching art before moving into administration as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Nashoba Brooks School in Concord, Massachusetts, and later as the Lower School Principal at The Park School of Baltimore.
Born in South Korea and raised outside Chicago, Lisa earned a B.F.A. in Art Education from the University of Illinois and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. Her experience as a first-generation immigrant deeply shaped her lifelong commitment to equity and diversity in education. She also mentors future school leaders as a lead faculty member for the National Association of Independent Schools’ Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads.
Lisa and her husband, Peter, a high school history teacher, have two children—a son in college and a daughter in boarding school. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and dabbling in ceramics.
