Don was born and raised just over the state border in Great Barrington, MA. He graduated with a degree as a Forest Technician from Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smith’s NY. After graduation, Don worked for a surveying firm before returning to the construction industry. He obtained his MA Construction Supervisor License and established his own General Contracting firm running a successful business for over 16 years. He then became certified as a MA Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner and holds International Certification as a Building Official. For the past 17 years, Don was employed as the Building Commissioner for municipalities in MA. He has coached baseball up to the high school level and was involved in the Berkshire Rattler Youth Hockey Organization for numerous years as a coach, referee, and a member of the board of directors. Don coached Midget Teams in the CT based NEMHL Hockey League as well as coaching at the Junior Hockey level. He is passionate about all outdoor activities and protecting the environment.

Don lives in Egremont, MA with his wife Jane and has a son, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
