Dear Friends of IMS,

We are incredibly grateful and proud to present the 2020-2021 Report of Giving. Thanks to more than 500 donors who supported our Annual Fund, financial aid, our endowment, capital projects including the new Field House, and other strategic priorities, we surpassed all previous fundraising records at IMS. For the first time in the School’s 99-year history, the Annual Fund reached over $1 million and, in total, donors contributed more than $5 million in gifts and pledges to the school. Your support reflects a belief in our mission and our commitment to providing a transformative learning experience for our students. Thank you for your generosity and support.

At IMS, we strive to teach our students the power of community, empathy, determination, and adaptability for a changing world. Last year, we were tested to put these skills into practice. Your contributions provided our faculty with the resources needed to inspire creative and innovative learning at IMS during a year unlike any other. On our Upper Campus, for example, the theater department was not deterred by Covid restrictions. Instead, they created Project Wonderland, an immersive outdoor experience and an imaginative take on Alice’s adventures. More than 50 community members transformed our 600-acre campus into an outdoor stage, and student actors took audience members on a tour of the most memorable vignettes from the book. It was just one example of how our talented faculty helped their students continue to find the wonder of learning, no matter the circumstances. 

We believe that students learn best when learning in a diverse environment, surrounded and supported by caring adults and peers who challenge their thinking and inspire new ways of seeing the world. Your support sustains the learning experiences and accomplishments of our students by allowing us to recruit and retain dedicated faculty and provide them with professional development opportunities from which students directly benefit. Your commitment allows us to offer a full range of extracurricular activities, upgrade our technology, maintain and build upon our campus, and provide the transformative experience of IMS to students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds through financial aid. It also serves as a vote of confidence in our school and inspires our continued work on behalf of your children.

Since our founding days, we have strived to create a joyful, engaged community of learners. The fall of 2022 will mark the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Indian Mountain School, and we can think of no better way to celebrate than with the opening of a brand new Field House. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, in June 2021, we broke ground on what is sure to be the most impactful capital project in the School’s history. We are deeply grateful to our donors, who have generously committed nearly $4 million-dollars to this critical capital project. While we are still actively fundraising, we are appreciative of the support and endorsement of our vision for IMS and its future. The Field House will not only redefine our school’s athletic programs and facilities, it will further strengthen our community and mission. This work, in partnership with other capital priorities, will help create a vibrant campus, thoughtfully planned to support our students and programs.

Capital Projects
