Twenty-five different acts performed to a packed audience in the 10th annual By Kids For Kids Musical Benefit Concert on Friday, April 15. The Lower School, directed by Ms. Banks and Mrs. Hochstetter, opened the show with “House at Pooh Corner” and “Yellow Submarine,” read by Mr. Quirk. Then students from the Middle and Upper School performed a variety of classical, vocal, and rock and roll music. MCs Courtney Bliss, Sam Pastore, and Kate Pastore introduced the acts, which also included some talented faculty. It was an evening filled with one great performance after another that raised more than $2200 for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT to help send a child sick with cancer to this camp for one week.

Michael Hund, one of the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp administrators, shared the following with us on the eve of our 10th annual concert, “… thank you for your commitment and dedication to the children and families of the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Thanks to your support we plan on serving more than 17,000 children with cancer and other serious illnesses this year through our summer sessions, family weekends, and Hospital Outreach Program. We could not do it without you and your support. You have continued to provide a gold standard as to how young people can rally their community to help those who need them the most. There is nothing more powerful than kids helping kids. On behalf of our organization, we send a whole hearted thank you for your incredible service to Camp. Thousands of children and families thank you as well… To help send good wishes and luck your way, I want to share with you one of my favorite music quotes: ‘Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.'”

Many thanks go to all who participated, including the Community Service students who helped with the event, all of the music teachers, the administration, faculty, and staff who assisted throughout the evening. Many thanks to all those who baked and helped sell that night. Order your copy of the By Kids For Kids show on DVD today!
