Contemporary Artist Lynda Benglis has a rich and storied career. Known for working in many mediums, her ephemeral gold wall sculptures inspired Amy Jenkins’s sixth-grade art class to explore the work more deeply by creating their own. The original works were made with chicken wire, plaster, and gold leaf. They used craft paper and gold spray paint. The challenge laid at the student’s feet: show movement and lightness by folding, unfolding, and manipulating our flat heavy craft paper. The goal was to make a piece that appeared to be floating on a breeze.

Students created art pieces inspired by Lynda Benglis that show movement and an airy quality.
