In their closest game of the season, the Falcons fell short of a victory by one hit.  In a pitchers’ duel against Millbrook school, the IMS defense stranded eight runners on base.  In a combined effort, Chris and Henry struck out six in five innings and allowed only one earned run.

Capitalizing on defensive errors, Millbrook quickly took a three run lead in the first inning.  Chris was able to squash the mounting offensive attack by striking out two batters to end the inning. More costly errors helped Millbrook load the bases in the second.  Once again, Chris rose to the challenge and recorded the last two outs with K’s.

In the third inning, Millbrook earned one run, but Chris found his rhythm again and struck out two batters before Henry caught the last out of the inning.  Henry went on to finish the game on the mound, allowing no runs and striking out two.

The highlight of the game for the Falcons was a defensive play by Ben at shortstop.  With runners on base, he fielded a ball hit over second base, wheeled 360 degrees, and delivered a strike to first base for the out.

Offensively, the Falcons scattered three runs over five innings.  Jon and Luke each scored one run.  In the final inning, Will demonstrated superb base running as he scored on a single by Colin.  The Falcons stranded two runners in scoring position as Millbrook recorded the final two outs of the game.
