IMS varsity baseball visited Millbrook School on Wednesday for their first game of the season.  The older, more experienced Millbrook squad finished with the win, 10-5.

From the start, Millbrook was confident at the plate.  They capitalized on IMS fielding errors and walks as they took a quick 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning.  IMS adjusted to the speed of the pitches and answered in the third inning with RBI singles by Ben and Luke, to shorten the Millbrook lead to one.  Millbrook added another combined six runs in the third and fourth innings.  IMS contributed another two runs through smart base running, finishing with five runs in five innings of play.

On the mound for IMS, Jack completed two innings with an impressive five strikeouts.  Chris followed, completing one inning with three more strikouts.  In the fourth inning, Ben also struck out two batters, and Max finished the game with another two, for a total of twelve over five innings.

Tim, Ben, and Colin each contributed one base hit and one run scored to the offensive effort.  Luke led the team with a single, double, and run scored.  IMS looks to continue with their positive performance at the plate as they prepare for a home game next Wednesday against Renbrook.
