On Friday, May 7, varsity girls lacrosse played Millbrook at home and lost. The final score of this rematch was 8-4. The girls started strong, scoring two goals in the first half to take an early lead. Millbrook responded with three goals to take the lead, which they held for the rest of the game. The score at the half was 5-3, and the Falcons were only able to score one goal in the second half, ceding three.

Falcon scorers were Devon, Morgan, Sophie, and Eloise.  The Falcons enjoyed good play throughout the game and provided a greater challenge for the older Millbrook squad than in the previous game.  There were many outstanding plays.  Haley had a great assist from the midfield, while Tess had three saves in the first half and seven saves in the second to complete perhaps her best game in goal this season. Eloise led the team with ground ball control, and she also managed three draw controls against the Millbrook center, which was a huge improvement over our first game against Millbrook, when IMS lost every draw control. Morgan, Eloise, and and Emily each had two interceptions: evidence of great hustle.

The Millbrook team also played very well, particularly the Millbrook goalie who successfully stifled the IMS assault by making 22 saves!  The Falcons dominated on the field for most of the game, took 26 shots on goal, and simply could not overcome the Millbrook goalie’s superb performance.  The IMS teams’ play testifies to huge improvement on the girls’ part, and the Falcon coaches were proud of the players effort.
