I hope everyone is staying dry! With the weather throwing us some curveballs this week, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some information about how, in extreme weather circumstances, the athletic department may manage our afternoon activities:

In most cases, we will try and hold all day students for a 5:00 pick up Mon-Friday. However, when rain is as persistent as this and renders fields unplayable, OR we have a snow/sleet/ice event during the winter months, we may call an early (2:00) dismissal for day students on Wednesdays or Fridays. When this happens, we will allow day students to phone home and secure a ride for the early afternoon (2:00pm on). If this is a hardship for the family, we will ask day students who will remain on campus after 2:00pm to attend what we call ‘permissions’ and allow them a comfy, supervised place on campus to watch a movie, read a book, or work on homework (generally in the main building) while they await a ride.

“Permissions” meets right after upper school lunch (about 1:50-2:00p) in the assembly hall and students are supervised until 5pm. Should you need your student to stay later than this, please phone the athletic department at extension 128 OR the main office to let us know. Please also let us know if there are alternative pick up plans, either for a bus or through another student’s parents or carpool.

As always, weather-related game or practice updates are available on our atheltics Web site OR by phoning the athletics hotline at (860) 435-0871, ext 990 (Please do not leave messages on this line; it is for informational purposes only).

Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Best,

Courtney Zeiner
