On Saturday, February 12, the Indian Mountain School MATHCOUNTS team traveled to the Northwest Chapter Competition at Naugatuck Community College.  As a team, IMS placed third, with a total score of 46.75. The squad got eight out of ten questions right in the team round.

In the individual rounds, Joe K. placed fourth, Ken P. placed tenth, Irene B. placed thirteenth, and Kevin K. placed twenty-sixth.  Because Joe placed in the top eight, he advanced to the countdown round. The countdown round is a head-to-head competition where a student has to win three questions to advance. Joe defeated three different students to win and be named Champion of the countdown round.  As a result of this win, Joe qualified to represent the Northwest Chapter at the State Championships in Hartford in March.

Congratulations to all members of the MATHCOUNTS team for their outstanding performance and good luck in the next round of MATHCOUNTS competitions.
