In January, a group of five students traveled to Hartford after submitting work for the 2019 Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards. Lindsay ’20 and Yujin ’20 both submitted their work for the middle school division, while Sejin ’19, Victoria ’19, and Michelle ’19 entered into the high school division. This competition attracts a highly talented pool of artists from across the state, which makes it an exciting experience for our students.

This year’s competition was especially exciting as our artists came away with a combined six awards and received widespread recognition for their work. In the high school division, Sejin, Victoria, and Michelle received two silver key awards and an honorable mention, while in the middle school division, Lindsay and Yujin both received gold key awards. In response to their performance, art teachers, Mr. C Pecchia and Mr. Visockis shared, “We could not be more proud of this group of talented artists. They produced incredibly ambitious works that required countless hours of planning and preparation outside of their regular daily schedule to complete. We are certainly looking forward to welcoming Lindsay and Yujin back next year and are lucky to have worked alongside Sejin, Victoria, and Michelle!”

The art program at Indian Mountain encourages students to explore their abilities and challenge themselves outside of the classroom. This annual event is one such example that truly shines a light on the artistic talent that we are lucky to have!
