Dear IMS Colleagues and Friends,
As many of you know, it’s Movember, the month formerly known as November, which is dedicated to growing moustaches and raising awareness and funds for men’s health. For the 5th consecutive year, many of us here at IMS have joined the movement and will be donating our upper lips to the cause for 30 days. The many moustaches (both the pitiful and impressive) around campus will spark conversations, and no doubt generate some laughs. The brave members of the Indian MO-untain team have defied the wishes of our girlfriends and spouses, pledged to taint our Thanksgiving photos, and agreed to live with an itchy upper lip; all in the name of raising vital awareness and funds for cancers affecting men.
Why am I, David Pecchia, along with so many other members of our community, so passionate about men’s health?
  • My father, Gino (an original Mo Bro), recently succumbed to cancer this past summer
  • 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
  • A man is diagnosed with prostate cancer every 2.2 minutes
  • 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime
  • 24% of men are less likely to go the doctor compared to women
Because of these statistics, and many more like them, we are doing our part in trying to change the face of men’s health. Will you help us?

Please support our efforts by making an online donation to our team, or join us in growing and spreading the word. The IMS Mo Bros will also be bringing around donation cards in case you would prefer to make a cash donation.
We only have a month to grow Mo’s and raise awareness and funds, so please come along for the ride. Funds raised will help make a tangible difference to the lives of others. Through the Movember Foundation and their men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, Movember is funding world class awareness, research, educational and support programs which would otherwise not be possible.

If you’d like to find out more about the type of work you’d be helping to fund by supporting Movember, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website.

Thank you in advance for supporting the efforts to change the face of men’s health.
