Each September, the Lower School announces an annual theme that will inform the curriculum throughout the academic year for students in Pre-K through Grade 4. This year, children will learn about all types of transportation and movement!

The theme was announced last week during Morning Circle when Mr. Horosky, our first grade teacher, surprised students by cruising into the gym on a dune buggy, pulling a sign that revealed the theme: “Movement and Transportation: Things that Go!”

During Circle, students’ arms shot into the air with different lessons and learning opportunities that could relate to transportation. Children could solve math problems about time, distance, and speed. They could learn about the history and evolution of transportation. In global studies, students could learn how transportation is different in various parts of the world. The list goes on!

There was great energy and excitement around this announcement and we look forward to jump-starting the school year with this theme.
