The IMS girls’ varsity basketball players had many scoring opportunities in their game against Hotchkiss yesterday, yet too many shots failed to sink through the net.  Coach Barillaro wrote, “It was a rare game when nothing, not even layups, were falling.” Despite this challenge, the Falcons played a good game.  Za stepped up on defense to help the team give up only five points to the older Hotchkiss squad through the concluding ten minutes of the first half.  Key steals by Lulu, Kate, Nina, Shirelle, and Janessa help to keep Hotchkiss players on their guard throughout the game.  Shirelle and Lulu also joined Kimmie and Jenna in pulling rebounds down on both ends of the floor, which helped to limit Hotchkiss’ possibilities for second chance points.  IMS offensive highlights included two strong drives to the basket for scores by Kimmie in the first half.  During the second half, Nina completed a fast break after a key steal. Later, Janessa and Shirelle wee able to break the swarming Hotchkiss press.

Notwithstanding their best efforts, the girls lost the game.  However, IMS coaches were happy with their players’ hustle throughout the match, and they congratulate them on a great season!
