If you walk through the halls of the IMS music wing, you are bound to hear one or more students practicing guitar with music teacher Ram Miles. Ram who has been at IMS for more than 10 years has quite a reputation. The students adore him. It is no wonder why approximately 25 IMS alumni from the past eleven years, who were students of Ram’s, came back to campus to have a chance to rehearse and perform with him once again.

The second annual Ramfest concert was held on Saturday, June 18. Alumni first spent the day in the rehearsal room jamming and perfecting their arrangements. After an evening barbecue on Osgood Field, everyone headed back to the auditorium to set up for the concert. The musicians played 15 sets and included a classical guitar solo, many original songs, plus some great old rock classics. Family, friends, and alumni came to watch and cheer on all of these talented musicians; many of whom started playing while at IMS. Two are performing professionally. John Lawrence D’Ercole ’03 is having a solo concert at Music Mountain in July and Max Bowman ’08 who will be touring with his band this year. Many thanks and heartfelt wishes were given to Ram from the performers. Brian Pecchia ’00 said it best, “It was so great to be able to spend the day with Ram and all of these incredible young musicians. I can’t wait to come back again next year.”
