Varsity Boys Basketball fell to Hotchkiss in a very physical contest. This year’s team features a group of very athletic boys who are relatively new to organized basketball. Coach Del Visco’s goal is to get the team to play together and learn the fundamentals of basketball. In just the few weeks of practice so far, the boys have come a long way in team play and have played tough defense in all their games thus far.

JV Boys Basketball avenged its former loss to Rudolph Steiner by winning a lopsided game, 34-14. Several players scored their first points of the year and as a team, they played very stout defensively. In their first game back from break, IMS played a tightly contested game against Mizzentop. In a low scoring affair, Mizzentop squeaked out a 2 point victory, 18-20.

The Varsity Hockey got their game schedule underway upon returning from break. In their first game, they came away with a 2-1 victory over Trinity-Pawling. After surrendering the first goal of the game, the Falcon’s defense stiffened and kept the opponent out of the net for the remainder of the game. Keenan Wysocki was able to net a pair of goals, the game winner coming with 5 minutes left in the third period. The team traveled to Eaglebrook for their next game where the returned victorious. In the 7-1 victory, 6 different players scored and many had their first points as members of the IMS team.

The JV Hockey team had its first game recently. They traveled down to Brunswick to face a tough opponent. Despite losing by a few goals, the game provided many players with valuable experience that they will be able to transfer to future competitions.

The Squash team had a match against Canterbury. The combination of having a match immediately after break when the team was rusty and a talented opponent spelled doom for the Falcons. Most of the games were over quickly but it was a good chance for the team to see what it would take to be competitive at higher levels.

Winter break allowed Catamount to get enough snow down on their trails to open full time. The Ski Teams have already taken full advantage of this, having gone skiing 5 out of the 6 days that we have been back at school. The Ski Race Team is about to enter into its racing season, so stay tuned for news about those races!
