Students Compete in Toy Design Challenge

Upper Campus students created and prototyped toys in Mr. Barillaro’s coding and design elective. After breaking into small teams, students studied ideation techniques, product design, and sketching to create mass-market toys for children. The toy design challenge was adapted from MIT OpenCourseWare, a web-based publication of MIT course content.

Throughout the fall, students learned about customer needs, sketch modeling, concept development, design aesthetics, prototyping, and communication. As part of the culminating project, students pitched their toy concepts to faculty and staff, who posed as potential investors and consumers, just in time for the holiday season!
